Vermiculite

Vermiculite Insulation Can Contain Asbestos Fibers

What is vermiculite?

Vermiculite is an insulator that looks like small rocks and is very friable. It is found in attics, ceilings and walls. Some vermiculites contain the most harmful forms of asbestos.

Health risks

A vermiculite is a sometimes energetic insulation that can present a danger for the respiratory system. If you are renovating or selling / buying a property, make sure you are not dealing with a property contaminated with vermiculite.

Asbestosis

A formation in the lungs of scar tissue, which impede breathing.

Mesothelioma

Rare form of cancer of the chest wall or abdominal cavity.

Lung cancer

Inhalation of asbestos greatly increases the risk of lung cancer.

You can reduce your risk of exposure by hiring a professional who will do asbestos analysis before you undertake renovations, remodeling, demolitions or additions.

  • Air quality test at the end of the work

  • Re-insulation as needed

  • Report certifying all the works

Our methodology
How do I know if my insulation is friendly? How do I know if I have asbestos vermiculite?

A simple visual inspection does not tell if a vermiculite contains asbestos or not. A laboratory analysis must be done and as long as it has not been done, it must be assumed that it contains for security reasons.
